Elinor Ostrom and Oliver Williamson have been awarded the 2009 Nobel prize in economics.

Ostrom (USA) is the first woman to ever win the prize and was awarded half for “her analysis of economic governance, especially the commons.”

Williamson (USA) was cited for “his analysis of economic governance, especially the boundaries of the firm” and awarded the remaining half.
